"TORII HUNTER WINS GOLD GLOVE AWARD
Angels center fielder Torii Hunter won his ninth consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove for fielding excellence on Tuesday. Only Roberto Clemente and Willie Mays (12 each) and Ken Griffey Jr., Andruw Jones and Al Kaline (10 each) have won more Gold Gloves for outfield play than Hunter and Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki, who also ran his streak to nine consecutive selections. Hunter had just one error in 311 chances this season, posting a fielding percentage of .997. " -From Angelsbaseball.com website.
We are happy to report that Bobby Abreu will be returning to the Angels lineup for 2010. The right field signed a 2 year contract speculatively worth $18 million. Bobby was signed on the first day of player eligibility to file for free agency. Abreu batted .293 with 15 homers, 103 RBI's, 30 Stolen Bases and 96 Runs in 152 games played. His leadership and patience at the plate helped improve batting performance and on base percentage for many Angels players.
Next on the agenda....let's see what we can do to sign a few of the other free agents before they get nabbed up by the Yankees.....booo Yankees.
