Angels Month of August 17-12 Record

Angels finish the month of August decisively with an impressive 10-0 win over the Mariners. With a 17-12 record for this month, the Halo's post 180 runs, 41 homers and an attendance of 519,142. We are just shy about 400,000 more for a cool 3Mil for the season with a little over a month left....wooohooo. The Angels go 6 games up in the AL West with their win tonight and a 18-10 Texas loss to Toronto. While the offense charges on with it's 24th game with 8 or more runs since June 12, Joe Saunders pitches a gem of a game. Saunders settles down and goes 7 innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out 4 after a shaky 1st inning. Joe shows that he is 100% and ready to bring it down the stretch for the fans of Anaheim. With the acquisition of Kazmir, the starting rotation should be extremely strong. Let's hope the offense can keep those bats rolling thunder through the month of September right on into the playoffs.

It is a good possibility, with Vladdy healthy and hitting the way he is, he could keep his streak alive and get that 25th homer this season. He has already hit 13 homers and only needs 12 more in the month of September to keep that impressive streak alive. Currently, he has hit 25 or more HR's in 11 consecutive seasons. Guerrero is some kind of mutant hitting machine. His second homer tonight, he put into the upper deck of Safeco Field and the pitch was at his ankles and hit one handed. Incredible strength and absolutely no strike zone make for an impossible opponent for a pitcher to face.
What more is there to say....Let's Go Angels.....right to the World Series. Who knows, maybe we'll meet those boys in blue up the road a ways. A Freeway Series? We own the Doyers anyway.....LIGHT UP THE HALO!------ Jonny Andres

Letter to Senator Dianne Feinstein

Mr. Jon Andres
6900 Westpark Place #B, Westminster, CA 92683

Senator Dianne Feinstein
United States Senate, SH - 331
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Feinstein:
I have looked at your immigration voting record and was very disappointed with what I saw. Even though 15 million Americans are unemployed you still seem to support the importation of 1.5 million foreign workers each year. Don't you care that this importation creates more homelessness among America's unemployed? Don't you care that this destroys lives and communities?I want to quote from a recent article that appeared in the Washington Post: "Only 15 months before, Lawanda Madden, 39, had a $35,000-a-year job, a two-bedroom apartment and a car. She was far from rich, but she could treat [her son] to the movies. She occasionally visited her sister in Chicago and bowled in a local league. She dreamed of going to law school. Then she was laid off and lost everything. 'I've had a job since I was 19,' she recalled. 'I never imagined I would be without a home.' Madden represents the new face of American homelessness." Doesn't Lawanda Madden's ordeal sadden you? Hopefully it does. What should sadden you even more is that she is not alone. Since 2007 homelessness has more than tripled in America's worst-hit areas. Put yourself in the shoes of the breadwinner in these families. You've been out of work for a year, but when you stand in line looking for another job, there are 15 million other fully unemployed people in that line and the number of jobs for which you are competing is declining by a quarter-million to half-million a month. It only makes matters worse that 1.5 million foreign workers are imported each year. These are 1.5 million individuals that, for the most part, do not have talents that Americans don't have. With this in mind why do you continue to support their importation? Do you have so little respect for these unemployed (and homeless) Americans that you would rather see them on unemployment and food stamps than act to stem the flood of foreign workers? You have shown great compassion for foreign workers. Now is the time for you to show some compassion for unemployed and homeless American workers.
Sincerely,

Mr. Jon Andres

Rays' Scott Kazmir Acquired in Trade with Angels

Morales goes 5 for 5 with 2 Homeruns and 6 Runs Batted In. The Angels come back and beat down the A's 11-7 in a great victory capped off by a 7 run inning! http://mlb.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2009_08_28_oakmlb_anamlb_1

It seemed like it took all day for the Angels to seal the deal for All-Star pitch Scott Kazmir, acquiring him from the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays get rookie prospects from Arkansas Travelers - Alexander Torres and from Rancho Cucamonga Quakes - Matthew Sweeney. Kazmir should add much needed depth to the Angels rotation. Scott Kazmir, a lefty out of Houston, TX is currently posting a 5.92 era with a 8-7 record. These numbers should improve with the gold glove defensive support the Angels will be providing. Kazmir will round out the Angels' starting rotation joining John Lackey, Ervin Santana, Joe Saunders and Jered Weaver. If any of these 5 hurlers get hot, they all have the potential of being the #1 starter in the rotation. This season just got a whole lot better!

Merrill Lynch iCommerce Scam - Lisa Rain

So, about a month ago I go to work and to my dismay I receive the ultimate news. Our company has decided to drop it's West Coast representation. With the knowledge that I'll be laid off no later than January 17, 2010 or take a potential position in one of these cities: Springfield, OH - Florence, SC - Duluth, GA. With this new position, possible a lateral move, comes a new and lowered wage, which is "appropriately" reduced due to regional cost of living adjustments. In addition, Duluth, GA is the only site which is not in a one horse town. That being said, Georgia is known for harsh winters, life taking summers, tornadoes and hurricanes....not to mention your backwoods lynching here and there. While all this sounds quite appealing, I would much rather stay in California and deal with the sunshine, beach and occassional earthquake.

All that being said, I've been sending my resume out to many companies around Orange County. The replies to my applications have starting pouring in within the last couple days. This is where the fun begins. Sure, I've posted my resume all over the net....Careerbuilder, HotJobs, OCJobs...etc etc etc. It seems that most of the job offers are quite legit and then there are those not quite so. One of those emails I received is from one Lisa Rain, supposedly from Merrill Lynch - email listed as recruiter@merrilllynchcareers.com.

I was slightly suspicious when I first received the email, but my dire need for a new job since the receipt of my pink slip encouraged me to reply to the email. Now that I have received the corresponding response, I definitely realize the scam is very apparent. First, the complete disarray of the application itself and all the grammatical and spelling errors...wow, a company like Merrill Lynch would not go for that. In addition, where is the Merrill Lynch signature logo. Not a single piece of documentation goes out without that wonderful logo. And, by no means will I ever give out my bank account information or open a new one to a company over the internet, no less.

For any of you looking at this "opportunity", here is a copy of the email. Your best bet is to just ignore anything from Lisa Rain.
